The location makes it easy to walk to major attractions, like the Vatican and Trevi Fountain. The presence of restaurants just outside the door means you won't have to go far for a meal.
Rooms are in poor condition with beds that feel like twins pushed together, causing discomfort while sleeping. Showers experience inconsistent water pressure, leaving you waiting for hot water, while the WiFi barely works.

I spent a real good time here, recommend to anyone. Liked spending my time in this fairly clean good basic hotel. Room was fully-equipped with a really fast WiFi, climate control, and a flat-screen television. Particularly nice view, the bed was comfortable. The staff was very amiable and extremely helpful, always on hand when needed. The location was perfect and convenient - easy walk to everywhere I wanted to go. The venue was an excellent place for enjoying a very very nice area.

You can't go wrong with the fresh. Plus, the location makes hopping between charming spots like Il Tartarughino effortless.
The room they gave us wasn't what we booked! After a complaint, they 'upgraded' us to another room that had no water, and the wardrobe door nearly took me out. Amidst all this, there was a quirky charm, made us laugh!

Good situation in historical center, walking distance to many historical sites, churches, restaurants and pitzerias. Silent at night at the end of the building, where we lived. Very helpfull and friendly receptionist.
The room, we lived in, could not have been any smaller. Ther Tv sent only RAI 1-3 programs, that means alltime dancing and quiz in Italian. We didn't hear any news, not even about the Polish aircraft crash. In the toilet was no place to leave a shampoo bottle, a toothbrush or anything off hands.

The staff there is really nice, she is very patient and friendly and humorous. She explained everything about Rome quite well, with enthusiasm. Another good thing about this hotel is the location, it's really really central, very convenient to go shopping and sightseeing.
When we first arrive the hotel we were a bit shocked by the gate of the hotel. It dosn't look like a hotel at all. The lift is tiny and funny, and a bit dark in the stairs. One won't dare to stay there alone after listening to ghost stories lol. But when u enter the actual door of the hotel which is on the second floor, u feel better. However this is a very small hotel. Some rooms are ok while some are quite weird. The room I live in is fine, clean and good shower facilities. But the room my other friends live in is not that comfortable, weird arrangement of the furnitures and a bit dark and old. Overall it's not that good value of the price but it's sensible because of the central location.

The hotel is in a brilliant location centrally placed to everything. The staff, especially the lady during the day, was so helpful with directions and bus information etc. Great value for money would definitely stay there in future.

My rollercoaster experience!
The hotel has an very nice location, just a short walk from major attractions like Piazza Navona. The staff are friendly and accommodating.
The room I stayed in was quite cramped and had issues like a broken base on the bed. I encountered problematic plumbing in the bathroom, less than ideal.

The hotel area was fairly clean, the room was air conditioned and well decorated. The staff were attentive and excellent all the time. I liked the room with a view, the bed was comfortable. Everything was good. The location was perfect and excellent, at walking distance from an aqueduct-fed rococo fountain. I had very good days staying at this nice basic property.

The location is great and also the new rooms are very good ,but small. Aurora at the front desk was very nice and helpfull. Mille gracie !
In the Internet on your page Booked.net they have a picture of the regular room that doesn't corespond with the reality ! We had to stay in the first night in terrible room with low ceeling in the unrenovated part because they dobelbooked !!! This was not what we booked and what we paid for. I will ask the Hotel for a 50% payback for the first night.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location.
I stayed 3 nights there, except the first day, there was no hot water! The staff who woked daytime(Italian man) was friendly and helpful but the night-shift guy(Indian) was very rude.

Like many others, we experienced problems at Hotel Marcus (July 2011.) The photos on Booked.net are deceptive. The hotel is, effectively, divided in two: the 6 modern rooms to the left of the front desk when facing it are the ones shown on Booked.net. (Numbered 208, 210, etc. See hotel939.com for pictures of this half of the hotel.) The 6 rooms to the right when facing the desk are numbered 5, 13, etc. (If you go to hotel-marcus.com, you see photos of Rome’s attractions, but not any photos of rooms, a real red flag.) Despite booking a superior double room, we were taken to shabby room 13, with two dangerous steps inside the room right next to the bed, a non-working refrigerator, and shower that leaked water everywhere. The room’s wall air conditioner didn’t work so the window (no screen, and over an alley with noisy 6 am trash dumpster removal) had to remain open since the portable unit required venting. The clerk (Italian, age 40, male, refused to give his name), told no other rooms were available, so spent night in room with open window, repacked, and they moved us while we were out. To show us rooms that we could move to, this employee opened two guest-occupied rooms (208, 210 on July 7, 2011); highly inappropriate, we thought. Also told that paying in cash, we could avoid the city tax of 2 euros per night; wondered if that was legal--but after arriving at the hotel at midnight the night before we were to leave without the cash to check out, the Indian clerk (male, age 25, refused to give his name) became incensed and threatened to charge our card. To stop his yelling at us, went to bancomat at 1 A.M. paid bill and ended this awful experience.

Location. It's close to everything...
Maybe I got bad luck, but this hotel has several serious problems than result in a awful experience. When arriving to the street, there is no outdoor sign and it’s difficult to detect it; the building street hall requires maintenance (at least a simple wall painting!). The reception reveals a cosy atmosphere, but then the problems begun: the room 202 had an awful disturbing noise coming from the electrical power board. You must switch it off (having no light) if you want to sleep properly. The window lock was broken. We asked for help to the receptionist but she could not solve anything. We asked to changed room. She agreed, but since the hotel was full, we had to wait for the next day. The second room nr 205 was a little better (although both were extremely small, which, for me it’s not a problem itself), but on the second night there was a problem with the boiler and we had no hot water! Although we asked for help, we had to wait one hour for the night staff, then we insisted and nothing happened, and only on 3th time insisting they tried to solve the problem. But they could not. So we had to take a cold water shower. Next morning the problem was solved, but late in the evening the same thing happened…This was very bad after walking during hours. The daily staff was very kind and helpful, but unfortunately they could not solve any of the problems and they were not knowledge enough. Being nice doesn’t solve the problems. In addition to this, the breakfast is very poor and the people that are cleaning the rooms are the same that prepare you the table and the morning croissant (just one!!). Tv doesn’t work in both rooms (not a problem for me...but one more unsolved problem in the hotel!). Conclusion: maybe if there weren't those problems the hotel could be acceptable. Considering this, I would recommend to avoid it, even if price is attractive.
